Is it ME you're looking for??

Some days we're lazy butts. Some days the weather is bad or we're pretty tired or it's Monday and we just want to chill at the home for a bit. And on those days, we play around with interesting things we find in the home! ;)
I don't know if this makes me a Teacher Mama or a genius or not (my money is NOT) but all I know is, my kid loovvees this activity. The first time we did it, he was at the sink for easily half an hour and that, in mommy world, buys one a LOT of time! ;)
We filled the sink with water, dumped his bath toys in, I gave him a kitchen spoon and then we got busy adding in fun things. Blue color dye which he then stirred in to watch the water turn blue. White shaving cream sprayed here and there for added....something. A bowl of ice which he individually added pieces from at stirred into the mix. He kept motioning to me for "more ice!" and so to and from the kitchen I went. All in all, a great little something to do that didn't involve much mess and fully engaged L. Win. Win. :)

We wanted to post a few photos for our family & friends to see because we realize we haven't been posting as much about Liam on things like Facebook. Hello, that's because that's what THIS is for! ;-P
Anyway....Liam discovered his first helicopter the other week. Primarily because there was a low-flying one that circled the area we were playing in outside for quite some time. He stood in the same spot for what seemed like forever waiting for it to circle back around and each time it did, we both pointed up to it and I said "helicopter!" It was pretty cute. ;)
We've also had a string of birthday parties to attend lately and that trend will continue well into June because all his little friends are turning 2! He's not the baby in the bunch but I think he might be second youngest? Maybe third? So that's kept our calendars pleasantly full because this boy loves a birthday! ;)

Whew! Took a blogging break last week and it was nice to have time away from the computer in that sense. Tis always good to occasionally fall "off the grid" a little, no? ;)
Hope you had a great weekend! We actually enjoyed some warm, sunny weather here in Austin...signs that spring is headed our way? Hope so! Loooovvee some me some spring time and we have a Galveston trip planned next month which means Mr. L will be hitting the beach! ;)
Today's kickstart is heavily focused on graphics and design....something I surely know very little about but have always been extremely interested in. ;)

Just a quick drive-by to post some pics really. I had long meant to get this "backyard painting" up here because it's Liam's first creation with his Papa! ;) They created that masterpiece together and it was cute to see because while I get to do things like this often with him...Alex doesn't always get to take part in the creative stuff with Liam. So that was great.
Also a few food pictures because we like food of course. Our Valentine's Day spread was light because neither one of us felt like a heavy meal so we focused on an appetizer of prosciutto wrapped pears with goat cheese and arugula and then followed that with BLT tostadas. I know that's a weird match but we're all over the place with our love of food, let me tell you.
Lastly, while I know it's not sidewalk chalk weather in other parts of the country...it is here so we took advantage! ;)
Enjoy your Sunday and hop on over to www.iheartyoumore.com to see what's going on there!

Let today be a day we celebrate love of all kinds and let it be a day we celebrate those who keep love instead of hate in their hearts!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Liam turned 20 months a couple of days ago. I know what some folks might be thinking....why do people still measure out a child past his first year in terms of months??
Well it's about development, you see. Different developing stages of toddlerhood. For instance, a 13 month old and a 20 month old will have vast differences in coordination, fine motor skills, verbal skills, critical thinking, etc. - yet they're both 1 year olds. So that's why there's a need to designate a 1 year old's age in terms of months still. Definitely by 2, we'll drop that. ;)
This 20 month old is getting louder. He loves chit chat and he loves laughter. Alex and I try not to force too many comparisons between him and how we were as kids because he is his own little person after all and we want to honor the unique Liamisms that surface more and more by the day. ;)
Finally getting into chicken nuggets it would seem. Still has a deep and abiding love for corn (on the cob, loose kernel, you name it). Would gobble up all the raisins in the world if he could.
He loves Sesame Street, the times we get to watch it, and he loves pestering Abbey whenever she's trying to nap on the living room rug. He loves time in the backyard, he loves stories, he loves blocks and CARS...oh my goodness, does he love cars. And buses. And trains. Anything with wheels.
He adores his cousins and big kids in general. 9 times out of 10 he wakes up one happy little camper and now that he's fully opening and closing doors on his own, bedtime and keeping him in the room have been interesting but we've managed just fine and he's gotten the hang of the routine!
Before long we'll be looking at the 2nd birthday and it's hard to believe he'll be 2 years old. He was just a baby yesterday.....
Love you Liam. And happy birthday cousin Pia!! We love you~

(not that Austin is gi-normous or anything)
Liam and I headed over to the Thinkery yesterday morning. It's quickly become one of his favorite places to be. He literally dives out of your arms to break free and tear loose in there - so much to see and do. He particularly loves the water/currents exhibit although that was closed for remodeling yesterday. His other favorite room is the light lab (see below). It's usually one of his first stops when we get there. ;)
We picked up a Thinkery membership while there so now we can go anytime we want! Highly recommend if you're local to Austin!
